The consulting firm is recruiting entry-level and experienced professionals to work on projects related to combating global terrorism, improving cyber capabilities, transforming the health care system, improving government, and protecting the environment.

What are they looking for?
New hires range from recent college graduates to former military personnel, staff with high-level security clearances, and experienced government or industry professionals.

How to impress their recruiters
Do your homework and be prepared to engage the recruiter with questions about the organization. Asking the right questions can be a strong indicator of a good consultant. Work to engage the interviewer in a dialogue. When you are asked questions, answer thoroughly, yet concisely.

The Container Store

2010 Best Companies rank: 36

There are 735 open seasonal positions for The Container Store’s transition team, which will focus on converting the store from the holiday season to the company’s annual elfa sale. The retailer also needs to hire 245 people for in-store positions.

What are they looking for?
Successful candidates have strong interpersonal skills and understand the value of teamwork. The Container Store is looking for people who take ownership of their own education and share their knowledge and expertise with others.

Accenture expects to hire 7,000 people in fiscal year 2011 in the U.S. — and, a total of 60,000 globally. Currently, they have more than 1,000 positions posted on the Accenture Careers site.

What are they looking for?
Entry level and experienced professionals to work in its consulting and outsourcing businesses. Ideal candidates have technology skills, including digital media, Oracle, SAP, Java/J2EE, SmartGrid, and expertise in banking, capital markets, healthcare provider and payer, or retail practices.

How to impress their recruiters
Accenture seeks candidates who can communicate with people at all levels and work with teams, have good management skills and have the potential to become leaders.

Google is hiring across the board, with an emphasis on sales and engineering.

What are they looking for?
People who are passionate about solving problems that make an impact at scale. Ideal candidates are well-rounded with interesting and unique accomplishments — in sports, for example, or music, starting a business, writing a book, or other activities.

The sporting goods enterprise has 35 open positions in its corporate offices in Kent, Wash., and close to 600 seasonal opportunities in its stores, distribution centers, and call centers nationwide.

What are they looking for?
SAP talent for the information technology division as well as designers and sourcing managers in the gear and apparel division. The majority of openings at call centers, data centers and retail stores are seasonal positions that will support customers during the company’s busy fourth quarter.

The company is expanding its field sales and diabetes education, and its openings run the gamut from administrative staff through senior management.

What are they looking for?
About two-thirds of Novo Nordisk’s openings are for pharmaceutical sales reps in the field. The majority of openings in their call centers, data centers and retail stores are seasonal positions that will support customers during the fourth quarter.
